The two main needle movers that will make your site faster are: (1) good hosting, and (2) clean branding.
Throwing a lot of caching on your WordPress website may help some on really slow hosts, but it will never give you the performance you really want. So start at the base with a quick download.
The main thing that affects your brand is the combination of your theme and, in most cases, the page builder.
Most sites that work well use a minimalistic theme that works well with WordPress’s built-in content editor (aka Gutenberg). Website builders are often the biggest factor slowing down a website.
Either you have to do a lot of custom code to reduce their impact, or switch to a theme that fully supports Gutenberg.
So my best advice for small businesses who don’t want to mess around with their site too much and keep it up and running is to invest in strong advertising, keep your theme minimal, and use a WordPress editor instead of a page builder .

Adding a keyword in is still useful, but it’s important to be descriptive.
This means when someone reads the title tag, they should be able to tell what the web page is about.
If the title tag doesn’t pass this test, it probably isn’t good enough.
The best practice today is to target the user intent of the keyword phrase in the content and then target the user intent in the title tag.
For example, since 2000, the standard practice is that if you are trying to rank for the keyword “fishing flies,” you must use the word “fly” in the title tag.
This is not the case because that keyword phrase is meaningless, so Google will first find out the user’s intent behind that keyword phrase, and then rank the sites that match the user’s intent – not the keyword itself. is not in the title tag.
The best way to write a title tag is to understand the user’s purpose of the phrase and try to match the purpose of the title tag.

Another thing to note about the correlation in the search results above is that none of the top four search results has the word “fly” by itself.
A sentence or part of a sentence is always in the context of a sentence that marks the user’s intent.
The search result for the number one does not have an exact match for the word phrase.
What these research results – and any research results – will show is that it is not only the wording in the title that is important, but rather, it is important to say what the topic of the web page is in the way that it is. indicates the user’s identity. intention
This, in my opinion, is the best practice for title tags: Optimize the title tag for the user’s intent, and don’t just dump the actual keyword phrase into the title tag.
6. Alt Text

7. URL Structure
Many people in the search industry believe that Google uses the keywords in the URL structure to understand the content of a page.
But this is not necessary today.
Google has a long history of downplaying the importance of using keywords in URLs. As recently as 2017, Google’s John Mueller said that keywords in the URL as a ranking factor are overused.
Keywords in URLs are overrated for Google SEO. Make URLs for users. Also, on mobile you usually don’t see them.

Best practice for URLs is to keep them short but descriptive.
This will help signal to site visitors what the web page is about (if they can see the URL), and help them decide whether to visit the site.
When in doubt, you can’t lose by asking how it will affect site visitors.
So if you have two keywords relevant to the topic in the URL format, that will be fine.
If you go back to the example search result for “greed fishing”, you will see that the number one result has no keywords in the URL.
However, in the first position, Google still ranks it as the most relevant for that keyword phrase.
8. Best Way To Use Headings For SEO
Headings are similar to titles in that their role is to describe what the web page is about and what the section of the web page is about.
John Mueller explains the best way to use headlines:
“…what we use these headlines for is well we have this big piece of text or we have this big picture and there’s another topic above that, so maybe this title is related to this piece of text or here’s this picture.
So it’s not like there are five words in these themes, so this page will rank for those words but in addition, here’s some more information about this text or about this picture on this page.”
The best practice for using headings is to describe what the page is about or what the section of the page is about.
Casey Markee has this to say about promoting content:
“Headers on a page provide a road map for users and crawlers to navigate a particular piece of content.
It has been abused over the years to the point where Google is algorithmically targeting rewrites.
Focus on writing clear, concise headlines that aren’t keyword-heavy, use Case-Title or Case-Sentence, and follow clear Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Always use consecutive headings (don’t jump from H2 to H4 just because), don’t put the keywords of each heading with your focus button, and never use CAPITAL-CASE in headings since some screen readers may confuse those with shorthand.”
9. Google Discover
Cindy Krum, Founder & The CEO of MobileMoxie – which offers mobile SEO tools – is passionate about Google Discover.
She shared these tips for Google Discover SEO:
“Google Discover is natively integrated on all Android phones and in the Chrome app for iOS. Because there are so many users, Discover can be a big traffic driver. It’s a great way to reach your target audience. and safety.
Content is shown to users who are interested in a topic and not because of keyword queries, which can make it a challenge to report it directly to SEO efforts.
But Google must know what the web page is about in order to show it to users who have shown interest in specific topics. This means on-page SEO is important.

A common mistake I see people make with their featured image is using one that is too small, or one that is not rectangular.
To ensure that Google displays your content in Google Discover, use an image at least 1200 pixels wide.
The rectangular image has an option to display completely. Only a square image will be displayed as a thumbnail, which will not stand out very much.
Speaking of standout, make sure to use standout color images.

I agree with Joost that using a plugin to manage structured data is the best practice for SEO. Google’s privacy policy is constantly updated.

16. Best Way To Do Internal Linking
Internal linking is a way to continuously segment your content and help Google better understand what’s important.
Scott Hendison, CEO of Search Commander, Inc., offers some useful ideas about internal linking:
“I’m currently looking at a great website that someone migrated, where they (at least) included all the 301 links, but didn’t edit the internal link structure.
I just use the best replace plugin in WordPress to change tens of thousands of redirects and chains to show the destination of the last URL. I think I’ll call this technique, ‘reclaim your direct link.’
It’s pretty basic, but I’ve never failed when I’ve done it for a site, which is mostly.
There is always pushback there, but no one bothers to fix the links in the content itself.

In the interest of helping both visitors and search engines, you should include related content from this content.
This can often have a dramatic effect on your ranking. There are tools and plugins out there that can help you get links easily, so you don’t have to know all the ins and outs of the site (I know I often don’t make my own site write a collection of contents for). “
SEO consultant Chris Labbate offers more best practices for internal linking:
“When it comes to internal integration, I like to say that ‘Meaning is King.’
Here’s what I believe is the best practice for creating internal links, with Semantic SEO in mind:
Try not to build links in the first paragraph.
We all know Google crawls internal links, but it also looks at the text surrounding each link, as well.

17. Read Patents Carefully
Another important best practice for SEO is to check each best practice to see if it holds true.
What sometimes happens is that patents and research papers are misunderstood, and later, these misunderstandings turn out to be the best work of lies.
Such false best practices are often based on a misinterpretation of what a Googler says, or of what is published in a patent or search.
For example, a common SEO myth is that Google uses “keywords” as a type of ranking signal that looks like a link.
This myth has its roots in a copyright notice that is about using the search query mark as a type of citation signal, similar to a link.
The purpose of the certificate is that if users search with the name of the website and the keywords, then this can be considered as a form of citation, although not as a link, but it shows as one .
The entire patent, from the opening paragraph to the end of the patent, is consistently focused on search queries that contain a URL or website name with a keyword phrase.
Somewhere smack in the middle of this patent is a single paragraph that uses the term “shown method.”
This is a paragraph from Google’s copyright:
The process determines the number of independent links for the group (step 302).
A link for a resource group is an incoming link to a resource in the group, i.e. a link that has a resource in the group as a target.
Links for a group can include direct links, cross links, or both. A direct link, for example, a hyperlink, is a link included in the source resource that the user can follow to navigate to the intended destination.
A logical path is a reference to the target resource, for example, a reference to the target resource, which is included in the source resource but not a direct link to the target resource.
Therefore, a path in a group can be the target of a link without the user being able to navigate to the resource by following the defined path.
The SEO team took that sentence out of context and used that one sentence to create the idea that a link is when a URL is written but without actually being a link.
